The beaches down the west side of France are lovely – washed twice daily by the Atlantic, super sand, inviting coves, and rock pools to see the indigenous fish and crustaceans. The Brittany beaches are, in the main, wide and wonderful, but beware of the seaweed, which can give off an awful smell during the warmer months. White sandy beaches stretch along the southern coast from Spain to Italy, and the resorts along the Mediterranean are not as expensive as they once were.
The countryside is beautiful – walk through the forests, or visit a vineyard. France is one of the best places to ski – Val d’Isere, Courcheval, Tignes – take your pick!
Paris is a delight – Montmartre is the place to head for in the evening.
See the artists at work and the street stalls selling their wares. At the top of the hill is the Sacre-Coeur, beautiful inside and out. Good views of the Seine and the city from here. Even if you only have limited time, do pop into the Louvre and see the Mona Lisa. A trip up the Eiffel Tower is what makes a holiday in Paris, and don’t forget to take your camera. A boat ride down the Seine is a must, day or night. Or go to the Palace of Versailles.

Leave all your cares behind and visit Disneyland. Great day out for adults, and children too!
If you’re interest in WWII, visit the Normandy landing beaches; Pegasus Bridge; the American and British war cemeteries.
Biarritz, on the south Atlantic coast, has great nightlife, super restaurants, and water sports (just the place for surfing on the high rollers).
Watch the white Camargue horses, galloping along the plains, and through the water. Pink flamingos abound, together with black bulls; eagles, harriers and hawks circle in the sky. Take some binoculars, and a camera, if you’re visiting the area.
Further along the coast, to the east, is the hot spot of St Tropez. Good place to celebrity watch, have a coffee at one of the harbour bars and see the yachts come in and out.
Visit Monaco, or Nice or Cannes – the choice is yours.
