One of the sights not to be missed is the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum. Do make sure that if you intend to visit, you must book your tickets in advance (do it on line before you leave the UK), as this site is carefully preserved and only 80 guests a day are allowed in. The Hal Saflieni Hypogeum is a subterranean stoneage tomb. On entrance, you get an audio guide and make your own way round. Amazing place, with three levels to explore.
Take a boat trip from Weid iz-Zurrieq, to the Blue Grotto. Best time to visit is early in the morning. Get the first boat which leaves at 9am. Sparkling caves, cobalt blue water and sun on the caves makes them glisten in orange, green and purple. Wow!

Bugibba, on the north east coast of Malta is a large tourist resort with three harbours, bars, cafes and restaurants and souvenir shops. The beach is rocky but good for snorkelling and swimming. Watch out for the black sea urchins around the rocks. If you get a spine in your foot, remove it as soon as possible to prevent the area from going septic.
Now a few words about Gozo, the island which lies just north west of Malta. It enjoys much the same climate as Malta, but is greener and less busy. The capital, Victoria, is in the middle of Gozo and boasts two beautiful churches and a Citadel, two opera houses, and museums. The island boasts some splendid bays, good restaurants and cafes, and of course, shops.
The beach in Ramla Bay has reddish-gold sand, whereas other beaches range from pebbly to yellow sand. Most resorts have facilities for diving, snorkelling, jet-skiing and sailing. While you’re in Gozo, rent a car and explore the island, visit the lovely little villages, walk in the beautiful countryside, marvel at the steep cliffs or just find a secluded beach and relax. But, whatever you do, you will be amazed at what this little island has to offer.
