Airport transfers in Spain

Spain is a holiday destination for all seasons, serving up opportunities for sunshine, city breaks and even skiing trips.

If you like to plan your trips around the climate as many do, you’d probably be better served avoiding the major cities during the height of summer. Madrid, Seville, Granada and Valencia, to name a few, are swelteringly hot during summer and escaping the heat and humidity can be quite tough. The expansive Spanish coastline running from the French border down to Portugal is decorated by wonderful sandy beaches. The beaches are tickled by the warm wash of the Mediterranean. The South of Spain, tracking past Gibraltar and heading west, is served by the Atlantic which beats in over glorious white sands.

Speaking of beaches, Spain is renowned for a number of popular beach resorts. One of the most visited of these resorts is the ubiquitously popular Benidorm. With its own micro climate and year-round accessibility, Benidorm is popular with all holidaymakers. Families, stag and hen parties, couples and singles flock to Alicante airport every year where are waiting to transport them to their accommodation with the minimum fuss. In fact, whichever Spanish airport you arrive at, can start your holiday off the way you wish to go on. Benidorm has so much to offer and can match its unique style with substance. Zoos, watersports, water parks, vibrant nightlife and miles of sandy beaches will ensure you are never bored.

A more English-style resort is Torremolinos, on the Costa del Sol. Akin to Fuengirola, wide glowing beaches and a catalogue of nocturnal and diurnal activity await. Treat yourself with a trip to nearby Nerja, where the caves will take your breath away. There is a bus which runs frequently from the village to the caves.

Skiing is not a pastime which people usually associate with Spain, but you’ll find it in abundance over at Sol y Nieve in the Sierra Nevada. The snow is usually inviting from December to April, and you can always head to the nearby Principality of Andorra if the snow isn’t quite piled up high enough. A touch further above sea level in the Pyrenees, you’ll find Andorra to be a less crowded and more affordable alternative to Switzerland, Austria and France.

If you’re magnetized towards a city break, perhaps romance is on the cards, in which case Madrid is magnificent. During spring and autumn the Spanish capital never looks better. Sightseers should head to the Prado and The Palacio Real (Royal Palace). For a spot of al fresco dining, pack a picnic and stroll to the Retiro Park. You can comfortably pass a few hours relaxing in the beautiful gardens before taking in the numerous art galleries. Most capital cities house magnificent cathedrals, and Spain is no different. Hop on a train and head to Toledo to feast your eyes on the majestic interior and exterior of the cathedral. The architecture, artwork and embroidery are something else. The town is also impishly pretty, with plentiful souvenir shops, cafes and restaurants.

If you make it to Granada, The Alhambra is a must-see. Tip: Buy your tickets online at home before you leave. Stare in wide-eyed admiration at the architecture and the King’s Palace. Wander the grounds and bask in the sunshine.

Venturing south? Then why not head to Seville? The castles and cathedral are reason enough, but outside of those you should head to Plaza de Espana. The gardens are manicured to the centimeter and the mosaics which adorn are magnificent. They represent each province of Spain and are beautiful.

Last but not at all least, the grand old city of Barcelona.

The Sagrada Familia Cathedral, this astonishing unfinished church is a marvel. Gaudi can lay claim to the design of a number of special buildings in this city, so why not set yourself the challenge of seeing them all? You won’t regret it. If you haven’t got time then you can always book yourself another trip, and will be waiting at the airport if you do.
