Airport Transfers in Zante
The best time to visit Zante is between May and October. The weather is warm and sunny, temperatures around 31 degrees C in July and August, with very little rain. From December to February it is mild, and can be wet. Day temperatures are around 16 degrees C but the evenings can be chilly – around 8 degrees C. Many shops and hotels close for the winter months, so it can be a bit deserted.

Zakynthos Town has some fine Venetian and Neoclassical style architecture remaining after the earthquake in 1953; a Venetian fortress used to stand on a hill overlooking the town, but now only the gate and outer walls remain, however the view still remains amazing; the promenade is heaving with tourist shops, restaurants and cafes, but still very pleasant for a stroll at any time of the day or evening.
Get up early in the morning and go the Blue Caves. A small boat will take you inside the caves. Here you can snorkel and swim with the fish and crustaceans. Shipwreck Cove is nearby and home to a rusty old shipwreck. Ignore the wreck and look at the wonderful scenery – white cliffs and white pebbly beach. Quite stunning.
Lagunas Bay beach is where the loggerhead turtles come to breed in the main tourist season. Volunteers try to ensure that the nests are not disturbed. If you want to know more about the turtles, speak to any of the volunteers and they will happily give you any information. In the high season, the town is home to a frenzied wildlife – discos, bars, British teenagers weaving down the streets day and night searching for cheap alcohol. To enjoy Lagunas Bay, visit out of season.
There is a free bus from Lagunas Bay to St Nickolaos where you can enjoy the water sports. Zygia Sulphur Beach has lovely golden sand, made all the more amazing by the stunning deep blue sea.
An aqua park at Tsilivi should keep the whole family amused – water slides, swimming pool, Jacuzzi – and for the less energetic – sunbeds. The park is clean and tidy, and you could get in for half price if you arrive after 2.30pm.
A seven hour bus trip around the island, or an 8 hour boat trip won’t break the bank, and it’s a great way of getting round Zante and seeing everything noteworthy and photogenic.
Enjoy your holiday and don’t forget to book your TaxiFinders.com personal transport service.
